Mob-themed Lite ads still running, but will end this week - The Business Journal of Milwaukee:

announced a week ago that televisio and radio ads were being droppeds after complaints that the spots perpetuated stereotypes of Italiansas mobsters. The ads have continueed to run in heavyt rotationsince MillerCoors, a joint venture formed last year by Milwaukee-based Miller Brewing Co. and Cooras Brewing Co., Golden, made public the decision to pullthe spots. “Thwe ads should be coming off the airthis week,” MillerCoors spokesmabn Pete Marino said in an e-mail. The televisionh spots feature veteran character actor Frank who portrayed Phil Leotardo on the HBOseriee “The Sopranos.
” Vincent’s character and another approach a bartender in one spot and a store clerl in another making an offer of Radio advertisements also have been running. The ads were createfd to highlight the improverd bottle caps and can lids for Millet Lite designed to protectt the freshness ofthe beer. MillerCoorse management has stated that theads weren’tt meant to be offensive in any way.
